About Breanna
Breanna Scanlon is currently in her 5th year of the Pennsylvania State University's Architectural Engineering program. Graduating in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, she intends to pursue her focus of mechanical design.
Having interned with two companies with different focuses expanded her experience and exposure to several project aspects and responsibilities. In the summer of 2016, she interned with Penn State's Office of Physical Plants (OPP) in State College as a project manager. Interning at OPP alongside a project manager, project coordinator, and construction administrator introduced her to several different types of construction responsibilities and duties that she was able to apply to her work at OPP as well as the following summer. In summer 2017, Breanna interned in State College with Reese Engineering Inc. as a mechanical designer. With three months of working on several multi-story retirement communities, she was presented with different design considerations for multiple different locations, climate conditions, and state code requirements. Breanna’s goals after graduation is to continue HVAC design and eventually apply her education, internship skills, and post education learning to pursue Project Management with the intensions of getting her P.E.
Outside of academics, Breanna is very involved with her family and friends. Growing up in Latrobe, PA she is one of five siblings and spends a great deal of time with them. Together they enjoy hiking, camping, canoeing, hunting, and fishing. Currently in her 5th year, Breanna is taking a Fly Fishing class that has sparked in interest in the sport that will continue after the course. Annually, the Scanlon family and friends have a Golf Outing in Latrobe to raise money for the 'Chad Delier Scanlon Memorial Fund" - the proceeds benefit Hunt of a Lifetime, Make a Wish Foundation, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and various other foundations.
